Browser Data, Cookies and other Web Technologies

1. What are cookies and why do we use them?

Like many websites, our Sites use cookies and similar technologies to enhance your experience of our Sites.

In particular, we use cookies to:

  • Understand and save your preferences for future visits.
  • Keep track of advertisements and search engine results.
  • Compile aggregate data about site traffic and site interactions in order to resolve issues and offer better site experiences and tools in the future.

We set some cookies ourselves and others are set by third parties. Most of the cookies we set ourselves are required for the Sites to function properly (such as remembering language choice and other preferences, and to remember and process items in your shopping cart). We use cookies set by third parties to provide us with useful information to help us improve our website and analyze the effectiveness of advertising campaigns. If you disable cookies you will lose some functionality on our websites.

2. What kind of cookies do we use on our websites?

There are different types of cookies on our website that can be split into the following categories:

Essential for operation – these are session cookies, which means they are stored on your device for the duration of the browser session and are automatically deleted when the browser is closed. These cookies allow the website to recognise your computer or device so that you do not need to give us the same information several times during one browser session. They are also used to allow access to the members’ and other log in areas, since they allow the website to see that you have successfully logged in. Almost all of the cookies in this category are set by us.

Preference storage - these cookies are stored on your device and are not deleted when the browser closes. They allow the website to remember your preferences, such as your selected language, whether or not you visited certain sections of our website (such as sweepstake). Unless you delete them earlier, these cookies will stay on your device for up to 1 month. Almost all of the cookies in this category are set by us.

Tracking – the cookies in this category allow anonymous tracking of visitors to the site and they are set by third parties. We use the information they provide back to us to analyse visitor numbers and returns, to see where visitors are located and what browsers they use. The information from cookies in this category allow us to identify how certain aspects of the site perform and where we can make improvements to the site. Some cookies in this category are used to measure the effectiveness of advertising campaigns as they show how visitors came to our website. Some of these cookies are session cookies and deleted after your browser session has ended, others stay on your device for as long as two years unless you delete them earlier. Cookies in this category are the kind that third parties can use to track users across different websites and provide more targeted advertising to you.

3. How to manage your cookies

Most browsers are set up to accept cookies but these settings can be altered through your browser settings. Your browser’s help functionality can tell you how to make these changes.

You can understand which third parties have currently enabled cookies for your browser or mobile device and how to opt-out of some of those cookies by accessing the Network Advertising Initiative's website at http://optout.networkadvertising.org/#!/ or the Digital Advertising Alliance's website at http://optout.aboutads.info/#!/ or, if you’re located in Europe, at http://www.youronlinechoices.eu from your browser. For more information on mobile specific opt-out choices, please visit http://www.networkadvertising.org/mobile-choices.

See also Section 4 below for specific opt out options for Google services.

These opt-out mechanisms rely on cookies to remember your choices with respect to ad-serving on websites. If you delete your cookies, use another computer or device, or change browsers, you will need to repeat this process. In addition, opting out of interest-based ads will not opt you out of all ads, but rather only those ads that are personalized to your interests based on activities observed on our Site and/or web sites or mobile apps not owned and operated by Diamond.

4. Google Analytics

This Site uses Google Analytics (“GA”) to collect data activity. GA may be used for display advertising.

Visitors can control the information provided to Google and opt out of certain ads provided by Google by using of the of the methods set out in http://www.google.com/policies/privacy/partners/ or use the Google Analytics opt out browser add-on at http://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. Visitors can also opt-out of GA for display advertising and customize Google Display Network ads by changing the ad settings at the following link: http://www.google.com/policies/technologies/ads/.

This Site also uses Remarketing with GA to advertise online. Third-Party vendors, including Google, may show ads on websites across the internet. Our Sites and third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the GA cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the DoubleClick cookie) together to inform, optimize, and serve ads based on someone’s past visits to our Sites; report how ad impressions, other uses of ad services, and interactions with these ad impressions and ad services are related to visits to our Sites.

5. Foglight Experience Monitor

We use Foglight Experience Monitor technology to record mouse clicks, mouse movements, page scrolling and any text keyed into website forms. We use this information for troubleshooting and/ or reporting support issues with our Sites, to improve usability of our Sites and for customer service. Foglight will stop tracking your browsing once you leave our Sites. Information is stored within the Foglight application for 6 months.
