HGV MAX

Key Messages

On April 18, 2023, Hilton Grand Vacations permanently adjusted the number of Resort Points allocated to an Embarc Member’s vacation ownership interest and the number of points required to make a reservation. The adjustment consisted of using a multiplier of 50 — meaning that for every 1 point in an Embarc Member’s or Passport Member’s account, they now have 50 points.

Also, as part of this initiative, HGV adjusted the Use Year for every Embarc Member account. Effective January 1, 2024, all Embarc Members will have a Use Year that begins on January 1 and runs through December 31 of that same year.

Adjusting all points and Use Year creates one consistent, simplified points scale across all Club programs that allows Hilton Grand Vacations to offer HGV Max membership to Embarc Members. Embarc Members can join HGV Max by making a qualified purchase. For details, visit my.hgv.com/embarc-hgvmax.

Frequently Asked Questions

General Questions

  1. Why did Hilton Grand Vacations do this?
Hilton Grand Vacations is seeking consistency across the HGVClub, The Club and Embarc Resorts programs and systems. Soon after the acquisition of Diamond Resorts, we conducted an analysis of all reservations and membership programs to determine the best way to integrate the companies. Adjusting all Resort Points by a multiplier of 50 and the Use Year creates one consistent, simplified points scale across all Club programs that allows Hilton Grand Vacations to offer HGV Max membership to Embarc Members. Embarc Members can join HGV Max by making a qualified purchase. For details, visit my.hgv.com/embarc-hgvmax.
  1. When did this happen?
Resort Points for Embarc Members were adjusted on April 18, 2023. On September 12, 2023, the Use Year for all Embarc Members will be changed to January 1 to December 31 of that same year.
  1. What did Hilton Grand Vacations change with this initiative?
Your vacation ownership interest and access rights remain the same — you can make reservations at an Embarc property as you did previously.

What did change is the number of points allocated to your ownership and the number of points required to make a reservation. The adjustment consisted of a multiplier of 50. In other words, every 1 point was increased to 50 points. In addition, if you’re an Extraordinary Escapes Member, your points were adjusted by the same amount across all Member tiers (i.e., Premiere and Signature).

For example, if your ownership was allocated 200 Resort Points annually, this allotment was increased to 10,000 Resort Points annually as of April 18, 2023.

Likewise, the number of points needed to make a reservation were adjusted by the same multiplier of 50. If a reservation required 200 Resort Points on April 17, 2023, that same reservation now requires 10,000 Resort Points as of April 18, 2023. Hence, your ability to make reservations using your points within the Embarc Resorts system remains the same.

Also, as part of this initiative, your Use Year will change. Effective on January 1, 2024, you’ll have a Use Year that begins January 1 and runs through December 31 of that same year.

With this initiative, adjustments were also made to Destination Xchange (DEX). If you’re an Extraordinary Escapes Member and have an existing Tier Credit, you remain in the same tier. Similarly, if you’re an Extraordinary Escapes Member with an existing DEX reservation, you keep the same reservation.

  1. Why did you do this for Embarc Members and not the other Clubs?
A similar points adjustment was successfully implemented for Hilton Grand Vacations Club in 2022 before the launch of HGV Max. Adjusting all Embarc Resort Points by a multiplier of 50 and the Use Year creates one consistent, simplified points scale across all Club programs that allows Hilton Grand Vacations to offer HGV Max membership to Embarc Members.
  1. How does this impact my ability to make a reservation with my points?
Your vacation ownership interest and access rights remain the same — you can make a reservation at an Embarc Resorts property as you did previously.

What did change is the number of points allocated to your ownership and the number of points required to make a reservation. The adjustment consisted of a multiplier of 50. In other words, for every 1 Resort Point in your account, you now have 50 Resort Points.

For example, if your ownership was allocated 200 Resort Points annually, as of April 18, 2023, that allotment increased to 10,000 Resort Points annually.

Likewise, the number of points needed to make a reservation were adjusted by the same multiplier of 50. If a reservation required 200 Resort Points on April 17, 2023, this same reservation requires 10,000 Resort Points as of April 18, 2023.

Hence, your ability to make reservations using your points within the Embarc Resorts system remains the same.

  1. Does the adjustment of points change my inventory access?
No. With this adjustment, all Embarc points allocations and requirements were adjusted equally. Hence, your ability to make reservations using points within the Embarc Resorts system remains the same.
  1. Is this a temporary or permanent change?
This is a permanent change to your previously used, current and future points balances.
  1. Will there be a cost associated with the points adjustment initiative?
There is no cost to you associated with this initiative.
  1. Can I opt out of having my points adjusted?
No. You do not have the option to opt out of the points adjustment. The adjustment was conducted system-wide across all accounts.
  1. I am an Embarc Member. Will I receive a new membership certificate that reflects the revised points total?
Yes. As an Embarc Member, you will receive a new membership certificate that reflects the updated number of points. You can also see your adjusted points total by visiting your Member Area on the Embarc Member website. To log in, go here.

Vacation Ownership, Extraordinary Escapes & Destination Xchange

  1. Does this affect my Annual Resort Dues?
There is no change to your current and future Annual Resort Dues because of this initiative. The points and Use Year adjustment initiative is solely related to your Embarc Resorts membership, the number of points in your account and the number of points needed to make a reservation.
  1. Does this affect my timeshare ownership?
No. Your timeshare ownership interest and access rights remain the same, and you can make a reservation at an Embarc resort the same as you did previously.
  1. Does this affect my existing reservation?
If you have an existing reservation, the system automatically changed the points used for that reservation to match the adjusted multiplier of 50.

For example, if you previously had a reservation booked at 150 Resort Points, it is now 7,500 Resort Points in your Member Area on the Embarc Member website. To log in go here.

  1. Does this affect my points history?
The points total for previous reservations changed with the adjustment — your points history now reflects the new points scale. The changes implemented as part of the points adjustment were applied to all previously used, current and future points.
  1. Does this affect my voting rights with Embarc?
No. This adjustment does not impact your existing voting rights. The points adjustment consisted of a multiplier of 50. In other words, every 1 point in your account was multiplied by 50.

Previously, Resort Point Members and Advantage Members received 1 vote for every 15 Resort Points owned, and Gateway Members received 1 vote for every 30 Gateway Resort Points owned. Starting with the 2024 election, which will occur after the adjustment, Resort Point Members and Advantage Members will have 1 vote for every 750 Resort Points, and Gateway Members will have 1 vote for every 1,500 Gateway Resort Points. Hence, your voting rights remain the same across all Member types.

  1. Does this affect the features and benefits within Extraordinary Escapes?
With this initiative, adjustments are being made to the entire Embarc system. This means the exchange value per points converted for Extraordinary Escapes benefits will be adjusted proportionally for each partner.
  1. Does this affect my Extraordinary Escapes offerings?
Your access to offerings within Extraordinary Escapes remains unchanged. While your points were adjusted to align with the new scale, the exchange value per points converted was adjusted proportionally for each partner.

To see examples of points needed for each partner experience and travel opportunity, visit the My Benefits area on the Embarc Member website. Here, you will see the new points requirements reflected.

  1. I’m an Extraordinary Escapes Member. How does the points adjustment impact Destination Xchange (DEX)?
With this initiative, adjustments were made to the entire Embarc system. This includes adjustments to the Destination Xchange (DEX) program. For all future DEX deposits and reservations, a new Points and Tier Credit chart was implemented starting with the points adjustment that occurred on April 18, 2023.
Below is the updated DEX Points and Tier Credit chart:
  1. I’m an Extraordinary Escapes Member. Do the changes to DEX impact my existing Tier Credits?
No. As an Extraordinary Escapes Member, your existing Tier Credit with DEX remains the same tier level. For example, if you previously had a Tier 3 credit, you still have a Tier 3 credit in your account bookable for any Tier 3 exchange reservation.
  1. I’m an Extraordinary Escapes Member and have a DEX reservation in the system. Do the changes to DEX impact my current reservation?
No. As an Extraordinary Escapes Member, you keep that same reservation. For all future DEX deposits and reservations, a new Points and Tier Credit chart was implemented starting with the points adjustment that occurred on April 18, 2023.

Below is the updated DEX Points and Tier Credit chart:

  1. Can I access HGVClub inventory now that my points are adjusted?
While the adjustment of points allows for a single points scale shared between the HGVClub, The Club and Embarc Resorts programs, it does not allow for booking across Club platforms.

As of April 18, 2023, Hilton Grand Vacations is offering HGV Max to Embarc Members. As an Embarc Member, if you choose to upgrade to HGV Max membership, you then can book reservations within the HGVClub, The Club and Embarc Resorts programs.

Use Year Changes

  1. What’s happening to my Use Year?
On September 12, 2023, the Use Year for all Embarc Members will be changed to January 1 to December 31 of that same year. This change is effective for Resort Points allocations starting in 2024. 2023 Resort Points allocations through December 31, 2023, will remain unchanged.
  1. How does this adjustment impact my Use Year points allocation?
As an Embarc Member, if you have unused 2023 points, you will still be allowed to use them without penalty through December 31, 2024. You’ll also continue to have the opportunity to bank your points.
  1. My Use Year currently resets toward the end of the year. I’m concerned I won’t have enough time to use my Resort Points before my Use Year changes on January 1, 2024.
As an Embarc Member, if you have unused 2023 points, those will be automatically banked into the 2024 calendar year for use through December 31, 2024. However, if you have any remaining 2022 Use Year Resort Points, those will only be available for use through December 31, 2023. You’ll also continue to have the opportunity to bank your points.
