Frequently Asked Questions: Vacation Connection
]]> Program Definitions Frequently Asked Questions Q: What is Vacation Connection? A: Vacation Connection allows qualifying Members the option to assign ownership interest(s) the Owner has acquired from other timeshare companies to Hilton Grand Vacations. In exchange for that assignment, the Member receives points that can be exchanged within The Club or Extraordinary Escapes. This provides Members the flexibility and convenience of consolidating different timeshare programs into one. As part of this program, ownership interest(s) declared at the time of enrollment in Vacation Connection may also count toward the Member’s Tier Level. Q: What are the rules for Vacation Connection? A: Refer to your Vacation Connection Enrollment Agreement; please note that the program is subject to the rules of The Club and Extraordinary Escapes. Q: What happens to my Club Combination, Club Select or Embarc Together contract if I upgrade to HGV Max? A: You’ll receive a new Vacation Connection contract to sign that replaces your Club Combination, Club Select or Embarc Together contract. There is no additional cost to you to upgrade to a Vacation Connection contract although the annual fee per point will continue to be charged. For 2024, the fee is $0.0058 per declared point on your contract. This also applies to current Club Combination and Embarc Together contracts. Please note that before the end of the year, HGV Max Members with a Club Combination, Club Select or Embarc Together contract will receive an email with instructions on how to accept their new Vacation Connection contract electronically. Enrollment in Vacation Connection is voluntary. Q: I upgraded to HGV Max. What happens if I decide not to enroll in Vacation Connection? A: If you choose not to enroll in Vacation Connection, your Tier Level status will be re-calculated and you won’t be able to deposit your previously-declared non-HGV ownership interest. Q: I currently have Club Combination, Club Select or Embarc Together. What happens to my contract if I don’t upgrade to HGV Max? A: There will be no changes for Members who do not upgrade to HGV Max. You’ll continue to have access to Club Combination, Club Select or Embarc Together, following the same program and rules. There is no plan to discontinue those programs for existing Members. Q: Do all resorts qualify for the Vacation Connection Program? A: No. All qualifying resorts must be affiliated with either RCI or Interval International and be approved by The Club or Extraordinary Escapes. Resorts listed under the “Will Not Accept” column do not allow exchanges and cannot be used within the program. Qualifying resorts do not include any resorts managed by Hilton Grand Vacations. The list of qualifying resorts changes based on whether the resort agrees to participate in the program. For a list of qualifying resorts, visit this page. Q: How many resorts can I declare? A: Members can declare a maximum number of nine (9) resorts per Vacation Connection contract. Q: How do I deposit my week(s) with Vacation Connection? A: To deposit your week(s), you’ll need to complete and submit the program Exchange Form, which can be found in your Member Dashboard. Click on My Account in the top left corner followed by Profiles and Settings. Then select the “Deposit Vacation Connection” link to be taken to the Exchange Form and follow the instructions. Please Note: Completing the deposit process may take up to 30 days depending on the number of submissions and the response time from the resort where the deposit is coming from because we must validate the information before the deposit is accepted. Q: What information is required to deposit my week(s)? A: The following information is needed to complete the Exchange Form: Please Note: Some resorts require a special deposit process. Submissions that require a special deposit process are conducted between the depositing Member and their Home Resort. Members are required to contact their Home Resort directly to confirm the depositing week and advise their Home Resort of the inbound Guest. The name of the alternate Guest is provided to the resort by the Vacation Connection team at a later date, typically two to three weeks before the arrival date. Q: Can I declare a lock-off unit? A: Lock-offs can be submitted as one unit and the number of points received will be based off the Points Valuation Chart in your contract. If you want to split the lock-off into separate declarations, you may do so. However, after pieces of the lock-off are clarified with the resort, points received and/or contracts may have to be adjusted. For example, if you declare a 2-Bedroom lock-off as two, separate 1-Bedrooms, but the resort verifies that their 2-Bedroom lock-offs are made up of a 1-Bedroom unit and a Studio unit, the Vacation Connection contract may have to be re-written. Q: Who do I contact if I can’t deposit my week(s) online? A: If you are unable to submit your deposit online, please contact Member Services at 877-374-2582, Embarc Member Services at 800-767-2166, or email at VacationConnection@hgv.com . Q: How are point values of my ownership determined? A: Point values are established based on the current seasonal designation and unit size at each resort as determined by Hilton Grand Vacations. Please refer to your Vacation Connection Enrollment Agreement for the Points Valuation chart or email VacationConnection@hgv.com for clarification on how many points can be received for the week(s) you are depositing or considering depositing. Q: When are points allocated to my account for my deposited ownership interest? A: Once the Exchange Form is completed online it takes approximately 30 days for your points to appear in your account. To start the process, follow these steps: Q: How far out do I have to submit my deposit? A: All deposits must be submitted between six months to two years before the arrival date. Q: When will Vacation Connection be available to HGV-deeded Owners and Members of The Club–EU? A: Currently, we do not have a projected date. We are reviewing the requirements needed to offer this to HGV-deeded Owners and Members of The Club in Europe. Q: Do I retain ownership once I deposit a week or points with Vacation Connection? A: Yes. You are simply assigning that year’s use rights to The Club or Extraordinary Escapes. This process is the same as assigning your week to RCI or Interval International. You remain the Owner and are responsible for all obligations and fees associated with your ownership interest. Q: Do I still remit maintenance fees to my association for deposited ownership interests? A: Yes. You are responsible for paying maintenance fees and all other fees required by your association, resort and/or Club program and must do so before making a deposit into Vacation Connection. Fees include but are not limited to mandatory all-inclusive fees for two people, name change fees, maintenance fees and utility fees, among others. Q: Can all-inclusive resorts be accepted into Vacation Connection? A: All-inclusive resorts may be accepted after the depositing Member pays the all-inclusive fee for two people in advance directly to their resort. Once the fee is paid, a letter from the resort is submitted to the Vacation Connection team to finish the exchange process. Any additional Guests will be responsible for paying the resort fee directly to the resort upon check-in. Q: What if my nonaffiliated ownership interest has already been deposited with another exchange company? A: You may not deposit the same use rights of your Qualifying Interest with both another exchange company and Vacation Connection. If you receive Vacation Connection Points for a reservation that is also deposited with another exchange company, the points will be removed from your account, you will be responsible for any fees associated with the relocation of any arriving Guest(s) and any transactions made using any portion of those Vacation Connection Points will be canceled. Q: What if I own a points program? A: Exchanges submitted under a Declared Points program will be processed as a Special Deposit. You must contact your Home Resort directly to confirm their depositing week and advise the Home Resort of the inbound Guest. The Vacation Connection team will advise your Home Resort of the Guest’s name for the reservation two to three weeks before the arrival date. Q: Can I deposit weeks for resorts owned and managed by Hilton Grand Vacations? A: No. Ownership interests from Hilton Grand Vacations resorts are not permitted. Q: Does my Tier Level change if I don’t deposit my week? A: Yes, it may. For your Vacation Connection enrollment to remain active and for the points you declared at the time of enrollment to count toward your membership Tier Level, you must assign at least one Qualifying Interest every three years for each Vacation Connection Enrollment Agreement. If you do not assign a Qualifying Interest at least once every three years for each Vacation Connection contract, that enrollment will automatically expire, and any points declared with that enrollment will expire after three years. At that point, your membership Tier Level will be based on your total purchased points (and any Declared Points associated with any other active Vacation Connection contract, if any). Q: How do I know my membership Tier status? A: Your membership Tier status is based on points purchased plus any Vacation Connection Declared Points upon your Vacation Connection enrollment. Q: What are the deposit fees for the Vacation Connection program? A: In addition to your Annual Dues, a nonrefundable deposit fee will be assessed for each ownership interest that is assigned to Vacation Connection. Fees vary based on your membership Tier Level and are subject to change without notice: Q: What is the annual fee? A: The 2024 annual fee for Vacation Connection is $0.0058 per point. This will be a separate line item on your billing statement and will be listed as “Vacation Connection Point Fee Assessment.” For example, if the declared point value for your Qualifying Interest is 20,000 points, $116 will be added to your annual billing statement as a separate line item (20,000 points X $0.0058 = $116). This fee applies regardless of whether you assign/deposit an interest with The Club or Extraordinary Escapes and will apply for as long as you are enrolled in the Vacation Connection program. Q: How do I pay my deposit fee? A: There are two ways to submit your payment: Q: Is there a difference between my Vacation Connection points and my annual points allotment from The Club? A: Yes. Points from your Vacation Connection enrollment count toward your Tier Level just like your annual allotment of points. However, you can only use points associated with the Vacation Connection program if you successfully assign a Qualifying Interest to The Club or Extraordinary Escapes. Also, please note that the number of Vacation Connection Points that count toward your Tier Level are the number of points declared on your Vacation Connection Enrollment Agreement, which may not be the same number of points you receive for usage in connection with your assignment of Qualifying Interest(s) to Hilton Grand Vacations. For example, if you declare 17,000 points at the time of enrollment, those 17,000 points may count toward your Tier Level. If, however, at the time of assignment, the Qualifying Interest you assign is only valued at 7,000 points, you will only receive 7,000 points for use even though your Tier Level and annual fee is based on 17,000 points. Points provided to you from an assignment of a Qualifying Interest may be used for resort reservations or travel services in the same manner as your annual allotment of points. Vacation Connection Points cannot be converted to Hilton Honors Points. Q: What is the term of my Vacation Connection enrollment? A: Enrollment in Vacation Connection lasts for three years. The term begins the year after you sign your Enrollment Agreement. However, the three-year term may automatically be extended for an additional three years by depositing a Qualifying Interest during the three-year period. For example, if your Vacation Connection enrollment goes live on January 1, 2025, you have between January 1, 2025, and January 1, 2028, to deposit at least one Qualifying Interest. Once you complete a deposit, your Vacation Connection term shall automatically extend to January 1, 2031. If you complete a deposit between January 1, 2028, and January 1, 2031, the term shall automatically extend to January 1, 2034, and so on. Q: What if I deposit my week each year? A: Then you will receive points for use each year. However, your enrollment period will not extend beyond the three-year period that is then in effect. For example, if your enrollment begins on January 1, 2025, you must make a deposit before January 1, 2028, to keep your enrollment active. If a deposit is made before January 1, 2028, your enrollment term will automatically extend to January 1, 2031. Even if you make deposits in 2026 and 2027, your new enrollment period will still only be extended to January 1, 2031. Q: What happens if my contract expires? A: If a deposit is not completed within three years of the Vacation Connection Enrollment Agreement start date, the Vacation Connection contract will automatically expire. Upon expiration, no additional deposits will be accepted and Declared Points will no longer count toward the membership Tier Level. Your membership Tier Level will be recalculated based on the total points purchased and any active Vacation Connection contracts. Q: What is my expiration date if I have multiple Vacation Connection contracts? A: Each Vacation Connection Enrollment Agreement has its own three-year term. For example, you could have a Vacation Connection Enrollment Agreement with a start date of January 1, 2024, which is valid until January 1, 2027. That Vacation Connection agreement will automatically extend to January 1, 2030, if you deposit a Qualifying Interest under that enrollment. If you have a second Vacation Connection Enrollment Agreement with a start date of January 1, 2025, that contract will have its own three-year term valid until January 1, 2028, and would automatically be extended for an additional three years if a Qualifying Interest is deposited before January 1, 2028. Q: Is there someone I can reach out to with questions? A: For questions, please email VacationConnection@hgv.com. ]]>
